Attack On Titan OST – Shingeki No Kyojin – Hiroyuki Sawano – Review
Shingeki No Kyojin – Attack On Titan OST
Catalog Number: PCCG-1351
Release date: 28 June 2013
Today I want to share with you the soundtrack of an anime I started watching recently. You’ve probably heard about the Attack on Titan manga? The story where giants eat people ! While at the end of the first episode I thought the story was sick and insane, I found myself interested in the plot! Where do the giants come from? Would humans be able to defeat them? So I decided I would watch the rest of the anime and even start reading the manga!
I see a lot of fandom around Shingeki No Kyojin, whether it be cosplay, parodies on YouTube or simply my Facebook feed which is heavily packed with pics from the show ! I thought I’d give the soundtrack a go, since the music was good enough in the anime !
The soundtrack is composed by Hiroyuki Sawano, a young Japanese composer known for his works on Blue Exorcist, Guilty Crown or even Zombie Loan. There is a lot of guest vocal in the soundtrack. The most noticeable one is probably Aimee Blackschleger, a young american singer associated to a Japanese agency.
Please enjoy my remix, with a snippet of each track from the OST :

Yes, the soundtrack only has 16 tracks … but in the end I have a feeling I listened to a whole lot more songs! A lot of the tracks change drastically their melody at some point. I would have preferred for the composer to split songs in different tracks rather then put 2-3 melodies into one song. But that’s just a detail!
Overall the soundtrack is really good. Instrument quality is great and the different singers make the whole soundtrack unique. You’ll find a whole bunch of epic music (some of them sound like coming from an album of Future World Music) and a few calm tracks. The album suits the anime very well. I can really feel the Titans attacking humans in some of the songs ! The tension is present for sure !
The tracks I like the most are “Attack on Titan” for its epic tension, “Eye-Water“, “Rittia Kidou” and “E・M・A” because I love such strong music that slowly builds up, “Army⇒G♂” for its solo Violin, “Bauklötze” because it reminds me of old games I used to play and for the nice vocals ans lastly “Omake-Pfadlib” for the perfect piano song to end the soundtrack.
